... the exquisitely curated panel ads they drop into The New Layout?

!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!

Kinja'd!!!

Not personally offended, but this seems to be crossing some boundaries, since about 60% of the nation’s population is getting re-branded here.

G/O "media" *is* a liability.

That's tasteless even by my standards.

And that map is also overly simplistic, assuming every state is completely homogenous, when we know that is really not the case at all. My state would be within the “America” part, but on a county-by-county basis, we’d be 2/3 “Dumfuckistan”.

I mean I get that The New Layout is about driving more ad opportunities... but is this representative of the “high-caliber” sponsors they had clamoring for more impressions on the FP?

A post I made yesterday had an ad for a sex toy in the middle of it. At least put it on the bottom. Y'all can service your accounts AFTER you read the post.

Has that t-shirt company considered selling the two obvious versions of that shirt to appeal to the maximum possible audience?

Ha! I live in the red there and agree with the assessment.

Although the ads are definitely getting bad. Even getting ads in the middle of our oppo posts on Mobile.

There are maybe 3-5 counties in WA that are truly “blue.” And plenty of people within  them that are certainly not.

Yeah, I don’t think a whole lot of brain power went into designing that one.

I’ve only ever had placeholders for ads on my iPhone.

I like it, offends people on both sides.

Plenty of liberals in Spokane and Yakima, plenty of cultists in Bellevue and Kent.

Its why drawing political boundaries on the basis of political affiliation is a pointless exercise. Most of the population doesn’t have a political philosophy anyway, they vote based on which candidate’s name they’re more familiar with, which one has a better smile, which one seems funnier, or just vote based on how they feel at the time. Election results are only ever a snapshot of what the electorate was feeling at that moment in time, most people fluctuate day to day, it’s how a politician c an win office with 60% of the vote, but somehow have only a 40% approval rating a week after taking office.

Also, people who do have genuinely held political beliefs can themselves change over time, a person can be a left leaning progressive in their 20s and wind up a conservative by their 40s, or vice versa, and liberal parents can have conservative kids, conservative parents can have liberal kids, etc. It’s all fungible.

The problem is that while we want to think of ourselves as dynamic, we are ultimately participating in a rigid dichotomy. My moderate vote for candidate X, and my wife’s more impassioned/motivated vote for candidate X, basically amount to the same thing. We vote to spite other candidates. We vote for our “lesser of two evils.” Seems all a great shame.

We’re probably more like a 4 major party system masquerading as 2 major parties, which doesn't help

I think so or at least not care, considering some of the articles that have gone through edits and published.

I wish you guys all the best come Nov . I don’t think it matters who will w in, your country is so divided that a significant amount of citizens are going to be deleterious regardless .
